worst day in years

How to describe my worst day in years:

  • Let's start with me having a sour stomach, the runs, aches and pains all over my body, major headache and pressure behind my eyes for the last three days. I think I had the flu or some nasty bug someone at work gave me.
  • Today there was another HUGE snowstorm. It took Ryan and I about 45 minutes to get downtown from sugarhouse.
  • Since I was out yesterday from work, I had lots to catch up on and then it was my busiest day of the month for my accounts. Also please note we have auditors in my office and they are just a few feet away from my cube and I have added work because of them.
  • I also spent part of my afternoon reading a not so nice email and writing a not so nice email back to a close friend. I can just be a bitch sometimes I guess. I wish I could just let things go.
  • Here is where it gets good. Ryan usually picks me up after 5ish. Today I didn't stand outside of my building because I'm sick and it is cold outside. So I'm standing there inside my building and I heard a crash coming from 300 south. I didn't think much of it. But then I wondered ....Ryan probably can't turn on the street because of the wreck. So I open the door and I see Ryan outside of our car holding the hubcap. I walk over and these two guys in a crappy old white car drive away. Ryan got hit on the passenger side wheel by a speeding car as he turned left from 3rd south. I get the story from Ryan later that the guy got out of his car and said "hey that was your fault...and you are going to get a ticket for it." Anyway I couldn't tell how bad the damage was until I tried to open the passenger side door and it was stuck. So I got in the back seat and Ryan turned the car on and we could barely drive it. The front axle is bent. The impact was harder than ryan thought.
  • We called our insurance. It takes about an hour to get the car towed to the body shop. Ryan and I stay behind at my office to try to call for a rental car. Thank goodness that Ryan just changed our insurance company and we can get a car rental when we get in wrecks. Ryan and I start calling rental places...sold out...sold out...sold out. Everywhere in the valley was SOLD OUT. BTW...the college basketball tourament is in town. Finally I called Discount Rental and they have a "95 Chevy".
  • I called a few friends to see who could take us to this car rental place. Mary is the only one that answers and she still in town not at home in Davis County. So we get to the street where this rental place is and we can't find it. We turn around and see that there is an alley way with a store with its lights on. Get this...this is the place where the airport rental places send people who don't have a credit card...people with cash deposits and debit cards. We have no choice. The big Polynesian guy who helps us doesn't even ask about our insurance coverage and he doesn't tell us anything about the gas. But he did ask us if we wanted the white or red car. I said white. We get outside and it is a "80s Pontiac".
  • Ryan and I laughed the whole way home...what else could you do?
  • We get home around 8pm...And there is a nice piece of wet buddy poop on the hardwood. Ryan just laughed again. I said "at least it wasn't on the rug honey".
  • It's 11pm and I can't sleep and guess what...my stomach is still sour.

I will be so glad when this day is over.
