quilting bitches

I suck at blogging these days. I'm busy as hell.

My quilting class started at Piper's last week. Kind of stressful at first but I'm enjoying it now. Rose is my quilting buddy. Here is a sneak peek at my fabric...it is by MODAFABRICS and the line is called SHANGRI-LA. The fabric is just delicious.

So two weekends ago, an old byu buddy (MR. ODOM) who I haven't seen in FOREVER (since 1993) came to UTAH for Turkey day and we got to hang with him one evening.
Here is the proof that peeps can still be cool after so many years without seeing each other:
Andi and Darin also had dinner with us that night. Check out the bag of goodies Andi brought for me from my favorite store that the state of Utah doesn't have:
Hot HOT HOT pic of me and Ryan (taken with a very expensive camera):

That same weekend I saw another BYU friend...David Shoore...we didn't get to take a picture but we did get to go to a movie with him...the Joe Strummer Documentary at the Tower Theater.

This past weekend it snowed...on December 1st I woke up to a ton of snow and it didn't stop snowing until the afternoon. I got to wear my Sorel's that day....that was cool.

And I also got to see Megan...who was in from Portland...we went fabric shopping then went to eat dinner at Charlie's Chows.

I have lots to do before the month is over. I'm still knitting, quilting, attending christmas parties... Ryan has finals next week. Busy bees...we are.

So I will try to keep up with my blog. Bare with me...I might just post pictures and that is all. Till next time.

my current obsessions

FILM: Ryan and I have seen this twice in the theatre now. That never happens.
We loved the characters, the music, the story. After the first viewing of the The Darjeeling Limited, Ryan turned to me and said "Makes me want to grow a mustache and start smoking." That made me laugh. I think we might see it again before the year ends.

TV: Our favorite neighbors/friends (guess who they are?) introduced us to this TV show. Pushing Daisies is one of those shows that every Wednesday I'm like -I can't wait till pushing daisies is on. That never happens for me on network TV stations. It is so different and quirky. It is combination of characters from a Tim Burton movie, scenes and sets from a Jean-Pierre Jeunet movies, narration that reminds me of Dr. Seuss books, with clothing (Chuck and Olives' dresses) from an Audrey Hepburn Movie. If you haven't seen it yet, you MUST tivo it.

Music:I know "back to black" was released last year. I just got a copy a few months ago and I still keep going back to it on my I-pod. I love every song on that CD. I also find myself following her life story. Her dirt bag husband got arrested on Thursday. Hopefully WINO will get some help...and come to the US to perform. I would drive to Vegas or Cali to see her.
On another note...Miss PJ HARVEY came out with a new one. We just got it. Did anyone catch the performance on Leno a few weeks ago? Holy shit...she is wonderful. I love those Brit Ladies.

October 07

It has been a busy month. Lots of fun and lots of drama. Mostly fun except for stolen pumpkins and overflowing sinks.

Ryan and I took a whole week off from work earlier in the month. That was super relaxing.
During that week off, we saw MOZ with Rose and Bob at the Thanksgiving Point "barn". We also got to see Alanja and Jimmy at that show. Moz sang lots of old songs...even Smith's songs...here is the setlist :

Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before / Tomorr
ow / Sister, I'm A Poet / London / The Loop / Jack The Ripper / Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself? / Stretch Out And Wait / I Like You / The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores / All You Need Is Me / Billy Budd / Death Of A Disco Dancer / Let Me Kiss You / I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris / One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell / Shoplifters Of The World Unite / You Have Killed Me / Dear God, Please Help Me / How Soon Is Now? // First Of The Gang To Die

We finally got to go out to dinner with Chan and Stacy...we went to Epic. The food was really good. I miss hanging out with the Lowe's. I finished another pair of baby shoes...and sold them to my first customer. Thanks Fred...
Last Saturday, Heather and Swiss Chris had their Halloween Party. That was crazy fun. Every room in that house was decorated with beautiful Halloween Decor. They even cleared out their garage and made it a dance club. I dressed up as Red Riding Hood and Ryan as the big bad Wolf.Denise and her friends came too. Denise is the blue Skittles. Bartley came as "Slutty" Red Riding hood. Here we are giving each other a stare down...step off miss thing...Matt and Roddy came dressed as sexy Dallas cowboys cheerleaders.
I always have to take a pic of me with Roddy...
Here is Ryan and the cheerleaders...Can you say Hot?
Anna Marie drove up from Provo for the party...she was a kitty.
Jennifer also came to Heather's party...her costume was beautiful. She was a Bollywood Princess...she likes to call it "a woman from India".
The hostess of the party was mother earth and she looked great. Here she is greeting Annie who was Marie Antoinette...

We did get a video clip of Matt leading everyone on the Dancing Queen routine...What a super fun party. Thanks to Heather and Chris for throwing one of the best Halloween parties ever.

On Monday the 29th...my big sister turned 51 !!! I love you Gioconda! Ryan , my mom and I took her to dinner and Ryan made her these cute little pumpkin pies for her birthday. On Tuesday the 30th...I stayed home from work to clean around the house and get some errands done. Between 10 am and noon...some one or some people came to my front porch and stole my uncarved pumpkins. I was so mad about this. This was my first year buying white pumpkins too! I am still mad about this just thinking about it.

On Halloween, Ryan had class until 9pm which left me to give out candy to the kids without my husband. It was fun...I got my mom to come over and help...I dressed up again as red and dressed up my kids.Dolly was a Sweet Angel Girl...she is so precious and so good at letting me take pictures of her...Here is buddy as a lizard or dragon...not sure which one it is...but he looks adorable in it...I made a collar for Penny since I doubt she would be good about a real costume....Penny is so big now...Matt and Roddy's kitty Toonces is very good at letting them dress him up....Toonces as a bumble bee...buzzzzz....One bad thing about Halloween night is that our kitchen sink overflowed because I clogged it with pumpkin seeds. Ryan came home from school that night to a mess. He was a trooper about it and the sink is almost back to normal. Ryan is my hero..and a great plumber.

Miss Lily

Happy 1st Birthday little doggie! Jenn's dog just turned 1 and I'm proud to say that Ryan and I helped pick her out from her litter. We did good. Lily is so good about letting Jenn dress her up.

Tomorrow's lunch

Ryan just finished making my lunch for tomorrow. It is an arugula salad with fresh figs and prosciutto de parma. I'm so excited.
Doesn't it look beautiful?

You are the dancing queen

Last night was Matt Barney's birthday party. It was a "delightful" affair. Lots of people and delicious food.

We were in charge of bringing food. I picked two recipes and Ryan made the dishes. Homemade Hummus and garlic bread. "DIVINE."

And our favorite...Rosy Melons and Strawberries (fruit was soaked in French Rose Wine and Rose Water). So Mediterranean and so Refreshing.
I love my husband...he is great with food.

We were the first to arrive at the party. I thought it was going to be casual but everyone was kind of dressed up. I hardly had make up on...here is me and Ryan. Since we were so early Matt opened his present from us and we nailed it...he loved his "tchotchke" from Pier 1.

Roddy was running around most of the night making sure everything was perfect for Matt (like making sure the music volume was just right). It was very cute. Ryan took this picture of me and Roddy.

It is crazy how small the world is...a red headed guy who came to visit Matt looked so familiar...i couldn't remember how I knew him...then he came over and introduced himself...his name is Will Spendlove...he was my "intro to broadcasting" TA back at the BYU. And Will doesn't even live in Utah anymore...he was just in town visiting from SF, CA and he is an old friend of Roddy and Matt's years and years ago.

Right before Ryan and I left the party, we got to sing happy birthday to Matt.

And Roddy made the cake!

After the blowing out of birthday candles...Roddy put on "dancing queen" for Matt. Matt has an entire routine to the song. Very Dreamgirls-isqe. It was so much fun.

Enjoy the ABBA. I hate to admit it but I really still like ABBA.

Disclaimer

I just want everyone to know that reads my blog that Jenn's pictures with the plumb boys are NOT good pictures of Jenn. She wants me to remove them but I do not edit my postings after I have posted.

Jenn sent me this picture of her and Mikey and some people I don't know in front of Broken Record...she approves of this picture of her.

Hair color, poncho, 11 years, plumb bbq

Recap on weekend Sept 8-9.

On Friday, Ryan and I went over to Seiren salon for our haircuts. I actually got some color put in. It has been years and years since I have colored my hair. Matt did a fabulous job. I love the color.

After our haircuts we joined Matt and Roddy for dinner at Settebello.

Damn my hair looks good in this picture.

On Saturday, Ryan and I went to dinner with our favorite couple - Rose and Bob. Happy (11 years together) Wedding Anniversary! We love you guys!
We went to celebrate at Takashi for sushi. Our favorite roll is the Black Magic Woman. I highly recommend it.

After dinner, we came home and downloaded tons of music for Bob and I had Rose model my poncho I just finished knitting. This was a 2 year project. I still need to block the poncho but you get the idea.

After Rose and Bob went home to "Southern Idaho" aka Clearfield, Ryan and I stopped by Bobby's BBQ party around 11pm. I felt like I was an old fart surrounded by 20 somethings...oh wait...I was the older one with all these drunk young people. And of course Mikey had to have all the attention!

Jen of course was there. I had to take this pictures of Jen with the Plumb boys.
Mikey...

and....Bobby.

Overall, Ryan and I had fun...and it was cool to be invited to our future neighbors' party. Here is a pic of Ryan at the party...

the VMAs

What a train wreck...Britney's VMAs opening performance last night. I'm still laughing about it. Her career has to be over, right?

I'm hooked on Perez Hilton's blog. Here is a fun picture of Ms. Spears ...posted on Perez's blog. Her bad hair weave extensions killed me:) If you have time please read Perez's letter to Britney. He is such a bitch ...I love Perez.

I want to scream!

I'm so annoyed right now. Yesterday Apple release the NEW classic ipods. And guess what they dropped the price of the 80GB and they released the 160 GB. 160GB!!!! So I could have gotten the 160GB instead of the 80GB if I just would have waited two weeks.

I currently have almost 12000 songs on my ipod. I'm about 70GB full. I NEED to get the 160GB. I will be saving my pennies until I get one.

Simpsons, Kitty growing, baby gifts, veggies, etc.

I haven't seen the Simpsons Movie but Ryan and I are now Simpsons charaters:

I finally sold my 60 GB ipod and got the 80 GB last week!

I'm growing purple peppers in our veggie garden.

Penny likes to play with the toliet paper.

And Penny likes to sleep on our bed when we are not sleeping on it.

Penny likes to play with the doggies and us late at night. Here she is on Ryan's back...trying to swipe the camera.

I made my first pair of baby slippers. I made them out of Debbie Bliss Yarn for Fred and Taya's Baby Viv.

I also made a matching baby hat.
